Very little is known beyond this photograph. It is believed that she was a Jewish girl who joined forces with a charitable group to deliver clothing and food to those in need after World War II.
If anyone has any information about this woman or her family, I would love to hear from you.
Ruth was a member of the United Nations Relief and Rehabilitation Administration Mission to Belarus in 1946 and she died in the prime of her life from a fatal disease contracted after saving a drowning Belarusian child. She lies at the Central Cemetery in Minsk. The US Embassy here commemorates her passing on the 4th of August every year. I currently reside in Minsk. darkcavalry_6@msn.com
